Marine service rates and shop terms
- Standard Labor Rate: Our shop rate for specialized marine composite, fiberglass, and gelcoat restoration is $180/hour (plus applicable taxes and shop supplies).
- Base Estimates & Photo Assessments: All preliminary quotes provided via photos, video, or digital communication are non-binding minimum estimates subject to physical in-person inspection. Digital photos cannot accurately reveal hidden sub-surface laminate failure, hull flexing, or trailer hardware obstruction.
- Rigging, Clearance & Trailer Setup: Safe and proper structural execution requires clear access to the repair zone. Any shop time required for un-weighting the hull, rigging elevation stands, or unbolting/repositioning trailer bunks to establish tool clearance is billed at the standard hourly labor rate ($180/hr) as part of the required repair scope.
- Unforeseen Damage & Work Authorization: If grinding or teardown uncovers hidden structural decay or unexpected access requirements beyond the original base estimate, work will be paused, and an itemized breakdown will be submitted for customer review before proceeding.
- Deposits & Possessory Lien Notice: A deposit is required to reserve shop bay time and allocate repair materials. Pursuant to British Columbia’s Commercial Liens Act, our shop maintains a lawful possessory lien over all vessels in our custody. Full payment for all completed labor, setup time, and materials must be settled prior to the release or pickup of any vessel.
